Teams with the Cinco Ranch Dance Team to Provide
75 Families with Food, Essentials this Thanksgiving
KATY, TX – November 1, 2008 – Peavy’s
Garage (www.peavys-garage.com),
a Katy leader in under hood and under car care service, announced
today its second annual food drive in support of the Katy Christian
Ministries. This year, with the support of the Cinco Ranch Cougar
Dance Team, Peavy’s Garage hopes to gather more than 250
bags of groceries to help 75 families this Thanksgiving. For
each bag of donated goods, Peavy’s Garage will donate one
dollar to the KCM Food Pantry.
“Last year the Katy community helped make our food drive
a huge success,” said Peavy’s Garage Owner Ken Peavy. “This
year we’ve raised the bar and are tapping into the high
school community through the Cinco Ranch dance team to gather
double the goods for double the people in need this Thanksgiving.”
Peavy’s
Garage works to support Katy whenever possible, and Thanksgiving
provides the perfect opportunity to bring the community together.
The KCM Food Pantry is currently in urgent need of basic essentials,
including shampoo, laundry detergent, canned fruit, canned
vegetables, rice, boxed cereal and more.
Each month the KCM Food Pantry provides meals and non-perishable
items to more than 1,000 individuals in a 170 mile radius. This
number is up from last year by 15 percent, making the need for
donations even more important.
“This November we expect to meet an even greater need
due to hurricane Ike and the economic downturn,” said Bruce
Kingwell, KCM Food Pantry director. “So we are grateful
for organizations like Peavy’s Garage and the Cinco Ranch
dance team who are willing to give of there time and support
to help us assist others.”

for S.T.A.A.R., Katy's local animal shelter that oversees

Garage. “Even though the drive is complete, we are
still hoping to help S.T.A.A.R. win a million dollar makeover

TO SUPPORT KATY’S LOCAL ANIMAL SHELTER—S.T.A.A.R.

their first annual Puppy Love Valentines Drive on behalf of Katy’s
very own animal shelter--S.T.A.A.R. (South Texas Animal Adoption
Resource). From now until February 14, Peavy’s Garage is
gathering shelter supplies to help S.T.A.A.R. continue to provide
a comfortable refuge for animals in need of a new home.
“Dogs have been a constant in our homes and our businesses,” said
Ken Peavy, owner of Peavy’s Garage. “So we want to
take this opportunity to provide S.T.A.A.R. with some much needed
support and help raise greater awareness about what they do for
Katy’s four-legged friends.” S.T.A.A.R.
has housed animals for nearly 20 years. Providing shelter to animals in need, the organization conducts approximately
100 adoptions a year, seeking the perfect family for each
dog in their care. In the process, they are continually in need
of supplies, such as food, toys and cedar shavings, to help create
a cozy environment for the 75 or so animals they look after at
any given time.
“Valentine’s Day offers the perfect opportunity to
show love and support to an organization that helps the animals

Katy Helps Peavy’s Garage Gather Over 125 Bags of Groceries
and $1400 for KCM Food Pantry
November
28, 2007 (Katy, TX)—Peavy’s Garage (www.peavys-garage.com),

today that their November food drive in support of the Katy
Christian Ministries Food Pantry (www.ktcm.org)
was an overwhelming success. With the support of the Katy community,
Peavy’s Garage gathered the equivalent of 125 bags of non-perishable
items and nearly $400. Peavy’s donated an additional $1,000
to the KCM Food Pantry to help support the important contributions
the organization makes to Katy residents.
Thanks to
donations from the community and businesses, including Encore
Printing, Signarama, HomeTrust Mortgage and Leisure Electronics & Satellite,
Peavy’s Garage was able to exceed their original goal and
supply the KCM Food Pantry with enough food to feed over 100
hundred people this month.
“Seeing first-hand how the community came together to
support our food drive was exciting,” said Ken Peavy, Owner
of Peavy’s Garage. “When the Cinco Ranch High School
Dance Team calls and says they’d like to bring over their
own food drive items to help us reach our goal, you know you
are doing something right. We appreciate everyone’s support
with this effort and look forward to making it an annual event.”

Peavy’s reaches out to the Katy community to help feed
over 90 individuals this Thanksgiving
November
2, 2007 (Katy, TX)—Peavy’s Garage (www.peavys-garage.com),

today a food drive to help support the Katy Christian Ministries
Food Pantry (www.ktcm.org). With the support of the Katy community,
Peavy’s Garage has set a goal to gather 100 grocery bags
of non-perishable items to donate to the KCM Food Pantry by November
21, 2007. Once this goal is met, Peavy’s will donate an
additional $1,000.
Although
Peavy’s
Garage works to support the community throughout the year,
this Thanksgiving presents an ideal opportunity to help an
organization in need of additional support. Currently, the
KCM Food Pantry finds their food shelves low on the most basic
essentials. Non-perishable items, such as canned vegetables,
rice and beans, are necessary to help feed families during this
holiday season.
“We want to give thanks this Thanksgiving by offering support
to an organization that truly makes a difference in the community,” said
Ken Peavy, owner of Peavy’s Garage. “Organizing this
food drive is just one way Peavy’s, and our customers and
friends, can contribute to making Katy a better place for everyone.”
In fact, the KCM Food Pantry provides a nutritionally balanced
supplement of non-perishable food twice a month to over 1,240
individuals in a 170 square mile radius. In addition, they
offer hygiene items, birthday bags for children and fresh produce
from yard gardeners and local farmers throughout the year.
“This November we expect to feed over 1500 people. We are
always so grateful when the community offers its support,” said
Cheryl Crozier, KCM Food Pantry director. “Donations from
businesses like Peavy’s Garage are what keep us going,
providing sustenance and support to individuals and families.”
